Our Beginning

Brett Yerks was born here in Minnesota, but grew up in a small town outside of Green Bay Wisconsin.  Go Packers!   He moved back to Minnesota to attend the University of Minnesota and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 1999.  He started working as an intern in the I.T. department of a medical device company and soon was singlehandedly running the whole department.  After 7 years there he decided to step out on his own and started up Yerkotech Computer Solutions, an I.T. services company serving small businesses.  By this time Brett had married his wife Lindsay and they were expecting their second child.

The business was very successful and flourished under their philosophy of integrity, honesty and placing God first in all they do. He placed the business in God's hands and God took care of the rest.

The business grew, but the “bigger, better, more, faster” mentality of the tech industry became wearisome.  And with a growing family to invest in, Brett’s priorities changed.  He listed Yerkotech for sale.

In 2012 Brett and Lindsay welcomed baby number 6 to their family.  And shortly after that their 7th child joined the family through adoption.  Their dinner table grew cramped and Brett decided to put his love of woodworking to the test and build the family a new dining table.  The table turned out great and he decided to take a leap of faith in starting a new business venture that would allow him to do something he loved while spending more time with his family.  At the end of 2012 Brett sold Yerkotech, transitioned the company over, and set up shop in the garage.  Minnesota Farmhouse sold its first dining table in 2013!

During the summer of 2015, God prompted yet another change for the family.  That summer the family of 10 traveled to Wyoming and North Dakota in a 32’ travel trailer to help at some fairs and a rodeo with a mission group called Amazing Grace Mission.  This trip then prompted a 6 month trip working at more fairs throughout the southern part of the United States.  After returning to MN the family sold most of their belongings, moved into a 40’ fifth wheel, and rented out their home.  They set out sharing the gospel at fairs and festivals for a couple more years.

Minnesota Farmhouse was sold to Levi and Staci Moses, friends of the Yerks’.  They did an amazing job running the business and continuing a high level of craftsmanship building furniture from March of 2016 until August of 2018.

Brett and Lindsay moved back to Minnesota in 2018 and re-purchased the business from the Moses’.  Their 9 children love having their dad working just a few paces away where he is able to join them for lunch or take a break to toss a football or help with a math lesson.  Brett loves the gift that God has given him as a craftsman and looks forward to meeting each new client and doing his best to build their dream piece of furniture.
